Fall Arrives:
I haven't written much lately, guess you know. I'm content here on my little ranch. Summer was hot and windy and spent a lot of time indoors.
The air is cooler and I am getting some organizing done. Cleaning out the sewing room/book room. Full of papers as my mail box is overloaded with junk mail. Tried sending it back but it keeps coming. Take a huge basket to the post office to pick it up. Charities, ways to make a million, credit card offers, etc. etc. many send several a week. Sigh. So I had a huge burning in an old bathtub I usually grow stuff in. Still have another box to burn.
Got up this morning cool and all the peacocks were out of sight. Don't know where they were hiding but after I fed Cheriki and Sage, I started a search and finally looked over and there they were on the hay stack. Don't think they would leave home but I'm always afraid they will get stolen when I am gone for a day. My beautiful boys, white, ' Snow Prince' ,and purple, 'Lil Carlos'. They are funny when they go over to the edge of the property I hike over and walk them home. Off they fly and scurry like disobedient children caught in the act. Luchia has finally given up setting on the 6 unhatchable eggs and travels about with her two boys.
Had the horse shoer guy out again and Sage just did beautiful having her feet trimmed. All fours and naury a kick. He then spent some time helping her learn to lead. We're going to have regular training sessions to get the girls trained. Maybe even to ride. Want them to lead and pack and trailer for their safety and mine.
I've been enjoying fall hikes out to the back of the property and the wash. Love the burrowing owls, coyote tracks , quail, and other birds that live there. I'm upset with my neighbor who continues to ride his atv back there dispite my notifying him it is private and no atv's . Found shot shells by a bird nest. Why? Must I fight with this guy and arrest him for trespassing and hunting on my beloved sanctuary?
I'm dreaming of setting up a campsite back there, tent, with desk and bed, campfire, outdoor kitchen. It is so peaceful to stand and not see cars or house. Only the beautiful sky and mountains and the desert terrain.
