About me

A quiet spot in the desert, a horse, a burro, a sheep, a goat, pea fowl, genuia fowl, that's my little paradise, surrounded by open space and mountains. You'll find me talking about my days and thoughts of this quiet life.

Brrrrrr!  Brrrrr!   Brrrrr!

Really cold here. Heard it was 18 degrees in Kingman. Had to break the ice on the horse trough and couldn't break the ice on the chicken water so boiled water to pour on. Chickens loved it. They all gathered around and enjoyed the steam bath. Last night I brought big containers of water in the house so I would have unfrozen water for the burro and mustang. My house water doesn't come on till afternoon as everything is frozen. Breeze died down so that keeps it less cold. I felt bad this morning because the quail couldn't find water to drink. I had added the boiled water to water behind the house and the quail come from the front. I showered last night and saved the water so I  would have toilet flushing water.

It's amazing how easily nature can make us turn to survival mode in such a flash of an instant. Take care and stay warm.
I'll send thoughts of my 75 degree weather your way.

75 sounds wonderful right now. It's been a long time since I've felt that kind of burning cold on my hands after I got them wet. Supposed to warm up some.

It's 79 here right now, and they say we're in drought conditions again. Wouldn't it be great if we could combine all the crazy weather and come up with a normal average?

18 degrees and what with wind chill? I'm back to reading icewishes.motime blog again - makes 18 degrees sound balmy. I'm always longing for even temps in the 40's. Oh well - when I move, maybe. Sounds like you've got your work cut out for you keeping enuf water thawed. Good luck.
